LU Gun Club
The Gun Club is split up into three entities: shotgun, rifle and pistol/three-gun. The new $3.2 million project is set to have overall five different venues including a pistol range, a rifle range, an instructional area, and a three-gun competition range, with future plans for an indoor firing range, classroom space, awards pavilions and storage areas. The shotgun is the only section to be fully completed thus far, due to weather delaying some progress. The bunker trap is outfitted with 15 ISS-standard Laport clay target throwing machines, which feature a computer that controls the timing and release of targets. According to the proposal, the shooting range would be the first National Rifle Association-approved facility on a U.S. college campus. It would also be the first NCAA-certified outdoor shooting range on a college campus that would accommodate all of the Olympic shooting sports.
